A major renovation of the original 1960's home and additions over 4 levels from the street to the top floor to create a multi generational oasis.
Over 1,000,000kg of rock was excavated to create the footprint for the Garage, Studio and Ground floor balcony.
100m2 of garage converts easily into an entertainment area with 4m high ceilings perfect for big screen get togethers.
The self contained studio apartment with its own private lawn is the perfect teenagers retreat or guest accomoadation for friends and family.
The new ground floor balcony and reconfiguration almost doubled the size of the existing ground floor. French oak floors, oversize sliding doors which recess into the walls and some clever engineering to remove the corner posts from the loungeroom have created 130 square metres of living area with sweeping views all the way to Manly Beach. The installation of an in deck spa adds a little bit of extra year roud luxury.
The additon of a new bathroom and ensuite to the top floor allowed for the creation of a parents retreat and new rooms with their own private bathroom.
A cleverly chosen mix of finishes including Mondoclad cladding, rendered walls, Sandstone, bamboo and hardwoods create a perfect mix of natural and man made finishes that blend perfectly to give the home a feeling of strength and warmth.
The whole process began years ago with a converstion during a bike ride and it was an absolute pleasure working with the clients Andrew and Marcia, and having the opportunity to bring their dream to reality.
