Freshwater

The Freshwater project was an exercise in creating a Beach house exterior with a modern but timeless interior. The clients wanted a home where they could raise their family but also have room for family and friends to share the stunning beachside location.
Work started with complex retaining work on the sloping block in the sandy beachside soil to create a level below ground. The lower ground floor includes 3 bedrooms, bathroom, laundry and living and is utilised as a perfect self contained area for family and friends.
The ground floor has a double lockup garage, 3 bedrooms including the master with a vaulted ceiling, ensuite and walk in robe, bathroom and a rumpus area for the kids.
The top floor is a fantastic example of utilising all the space available. Vaulted ceilings with exposed liningboards and timber rafters creates a light, bright expanse of space which gives a fresh and exciting new take on open plan living.
The kitchen with its simple but practical lines and setout is highlighted by the 5m Basalt stone island benchtop. This kitchen really is the hub of the home with room for preparation and entertaining.
The dining and living area open onto a spacious balcony decked in Fijian mahogany which has greyed off to give a feeling of an old beachside jetty. Spotted gum floors and benchtops bring a warmth to the house which is finished throughout to an exceptionally high standard. The owners had a real hands on role in the design and choice of finishes throughout which resulted in a finished home tailor made for them and their family.
