With sweeping views of Curl Curl beach, the original house was a 1960's built 6 bedroom house that was more of a maze than a home. No feeling of connection and rooms off rooms on every level.
Some of the shell of the existing house was kept thanks to some innovative and imaginative engineering to to allow a complete restucture while maximising the use of the 630m2 block.
From front to back and top to bottom every part of the footprint was used to maximise the the outlook and create spaces that are family friendly and usable.
The original kidney shaped pool with high solid brick fencing was modernised into a rectangle fully tiled pool with glass balustrade to take in the view of Curl Curl beach.
The lower ground floor contains a home office with private terrace, Games room and Bar, TV room and a cavernous covered outdoor entertaining area with a 4m high ceiling.
The double height entry on the ground floor creates a grand, welcoming entrance which flows into the open plan kitchen, dining, living area. Two sets of triple stacking sliding doors open onto the 9m wide entertaining terrace. An oversize double garage, guest bathroom and laundry with private drying deck complete the ground floor.
Access to the first floor is via an open riser, steel and glass stairway floating in a double height void lit by the triple skylights above. 3 oversize bedrooms with built in robes, one room with its own ensuite, and a private bathroom make a perfect haven for guests and children.
The East end of the top floor is dedicated to the enormous master bedroom, walk in robe, private bathroom with freestanding bath, all opening onto a 90m2 private terrace with some of the most spectaclar and sought after views in Sydney.
A modern exterior with James Hardie Scyon cladding, off form concrete and feature aluminium transitions to a warm and inviting interior of exposed feature brickwalls, Blackbutt flooring and endless glass to flood the home with light.
